This is the second time attending this conference (http://www.eferro.net/2014/10/software-craftsmanship-barcelona-2014.html).This conference is a two days...
There has been a lot of discussion during the last 50 years about the nature of programming: Is it an art like poetry? Is it craftsmanship like pottery? Is it an exact science like physics? Or a non exact science like medicine? Is it engineering like bridge building? Whatever the nature of software development is: during this time, a lot of tools and techniques have appeared to make your lazy-developer life more difficult: Coding conventions, OOP, FP, SOLID, Design Patterns, Tests, TDD, UML, Use-cases, CASE tools, Refactoring, RUP, Agile, SCRUM, Continuous Integration, Code Complexity Metrics, Emergent Architecture, DevOps, SCM... and whatnot! But, sometimes, being a lazy developer makes you do things that seemed counterintuitive, in order to pursue your main objective: WORK LESS. https://2017.es.pycon.org/en/schedule/why-lazy-developers-write-beautiful-code/

After publishing Honey Badger Team visual history, @artolamola asked me on twitter if I used "continuous delivery" as the driving force for the transformation and why. The short answer is Yes, and in this blog post will try to explain the motivations behind. For me, agile requires two things (see the-two-pillars-of-agile-software):A healthy knowledge culture focused on people (collaboration, learning, respect, team work, creativity...) Looking for quality and technical excellence (for e...

@snicoll Spring Boot, the new convention-over-configuration centric framework from the Spring team at Pivotal, marries Spring's flexibility with conventional, common sense defaults to make application development move swiftly and enjoyable. It's ideally suited for building microservices and distributed systems and makes streamlining devops practices simple. Join Spring Boot committer Stéphane Nicoll for a look at what Spring Boot is, why it's turning heads, why you should consider it for your next application (REST, web, batch, big-data, integration, whatever!) and how to get started. https://www.autentia.com
@JesperWermuth This is a talk about how and why we codified and automated an entire infrastructure at Danske Spil, including server generation, networking, access, infrastructure building and deployment, code project building and deployment, generation of CI environment and much more. We even codified the workflows of the DevOps department, a very interesting part of the project that I look forward to share. The talk has a technical angle and there will be high level views and code examples and perhaps a demo if I feel lucky that day. Some of the technologies / things involved are: terraform, packer, vagrant, AWS, jenkins, gradle, VPNs, NATs, Virtual Private Clouds, IAM, Java, Artifactory, Docker, Swarm, Registry, … Hope to see you there 8) https://www.autentia.com
